🌺🧶How to dye variegated yarn using natural dyes

Hi Reader,

I hope you had a great week! Here in New Zealand we are definitely in the middle of autumn and I am already missing the long sunny hot days!

The next best thing to summer, is to have a woolly warm crafty project all set up for winter and that's exactly what I have been setting up this week.

I finally got onto naturally dyeing some merino wool which I bought last year, and I dyed it in a variegated fashion! 🌻

I love the result!!!! I actually loved it so much that I have created a tutorial so that I could share it with you Reader!

I like to create easy shortcuts and I find that dyeing with a variegated effect creates a super unique wool yarn which you can apply to many different crochet and knitting projects🧶🧶

Of course you can apply these principles and create all sorts of ombre effects on yarn and fabric as well as shown in the photos below.

This photo shows the amazing solid natural color from madder root, cochineal, logwood and dyers chamomile on different wool, cotton and silk yarns (left) and an ombre cotton yarn which was dyed using onion skins and logwood as well as the variegated wool yarn dyed with cochineal, onion skins and logwood.

In the photo below you can also see 2 lovely silk scarves dyed to create an ombre effect and 2 cotton baby tops dyed in a similar way 🌺🌺

ok, so if you are interested in learning how easy it is to create your own variegated wool yarn check out this tutorial!

I hope you love it and that you are inspired to give it a go!

Be sure to reach out with any questions that you may have, always super happy to help you while you navigate your way through the amazing world on natural dyeing and sustainable crafts!

XOXO Victoria🌻🌻
